B. B. Services Will Honor Late Pope
Memorial exercises, honoring the late Pope Pius XI, and featuring Rabbi Joseph Gitin of Butte, Montana, as principal speaker will be given by San Francisco Lodge No. 21, B’nai B’rith, at its regular meeting on Monday evening, March 13. These exercises, Herbert A. Leland, program chairman, announced, are part of national services held by B’nai B’rith lodges at the request of Supreme President Henry Monsky. Also at the meeting, Lowell Adelson, former grand president of the A.Z.A., and Sol Silverman, past president of San Francisco lodge and editor of the Emanu-El, will present a gold football and certificate to Harry Aronson of St. Mary’s College, who was recently chosen on the All-Ameri-can Jewish football team. - Jewish News of Northern California (Emanu-El, Jewish Community Bulletin), 10 March 1939.
